Atypical Antipsychotics and the Spectrum Anxiety Disorders - A Video SymposiumCurrent profiles indicate that U.S. clinicians prescribe a substantial amount of atypical antipsychotic medications of label, i.e. for non-schizophrenic conditions. The pharmacologic profile of the new generation medications, including clozapine, risperidone, olanzapine, quetiapine and ziprasidone, would support such use but are there studies showing clinical efficacy ni off label disease states? In particular, anxiety spectrum disorders, such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, have been shown to respond to treatment with the atypical antipsychotic agents.
